Bringing light into architectural plans
This video is about the challenge of dealing with daylight when doing an extension. Through daylight simulations of the static model (daylight factor) we are able to determine more or less how many lux we are getting and for how much time.
In the video I go through several iterations to bring as much daylight as possible into this space, but also consider if the effort is really warranted. We always want more daylight in our projects, but we also have to match our spaces with the activity to be carried out in these spaces along with climate.
In this case, this is a dining room. Maybe it’s not too much of a problem if it doesn’t have a lot of light. Summer dinners could be had in the terrace and during other months of the year, there simply isn’t enough light available in the environment at dinner time in order to warrant great efforts to bring what little is available into this space.
That being said, we also want to avoid creating a general “gloom” effect in the house as a result of our extension, but given it has a double exposure, I do not think that this will be the case.

Project Réf.: 73 - Til
We are working on a lot for doing anywhere from 4 to 6 houses in Wavre, and we recently had a meeting with the council to determine how we can go forward while applying their input into our design. The project is still at early stages but it promises to be interesting!
As always, thank you all for your support,
