New video is out !

We just passed our first milestone of 50 subscribers and I can’t thank you enough for your support!

It’s hard starting a channel because you’re constantly having to re assure yourself that the message is important and this is worth it.

You early subscribers make this journey far easier, so again, thank you!

Understanding the movement of the sun

We all know that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. However, in this video I dig a little deeper into understanding the solar trajectory and why this is important in architecture, particularly if we are setting out to achieve sustainable (sensible) projects.

Photo of the week

Sun path diagram overlaid fisheye photo in Stilt House

This is a photo we took on over at Stilt House using a fisheye lens. We then overlaid the sunpath diagram. I go into the detail of how to read this kind of diagrams in this week’s video.

This image shows that the wooden overhang protects the entire window during the summer time for the hours after 10:00 a.m. This is explained by the fact that image was taken from the bottom of the window, meaning that as we go up it, more of the analemmas will be covered.

Keep in mind however, that this is not a “stereographic projection” of the sun path diagram. It’s actually a plan view of a 3D graph which is different.

On going poll

(still going and will continue to go for some time)

I started a first community poll, if you’d like to participate, just click on the image below. Be aware that this is not the actual poll

clicking on the image will open a new window.

Once again, thank you all for your support,
